Renew ("we", "our", "us") is operated by RenewPro, a sole trader registered in Australia. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Renew mobile application ("the App").

By using Renew, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

How Your Photos Are Stored

Your photo storage depends on your subscription tier:

Free users: Photos are stored only on your device. If you delete the app or switch devices, your photos will not be available on the new device.

Pro users: Photos are automatically uploaded to secure cloud storage (Supabase) and can sync across all your devices. When you upgrade to Pro, any existing photos on your device will be uploaded to the cloud.

Photos are compressed before storage to optimise performance and storage space.

Skin Journal Photos

Renew includes an optional photo journal feature for tracking your skin over time. If you choose to use this feature:

Important: Skin journal photos are entirely optional. The app functions fully without them.

AI-Powered Features

Renew uses artificial intelligence to help you add products more easily:

AI Service Provider: We use Google Gemini API for AI processing.

What we send: Only product-related content (URLs, product photos). We never send your personal information, journal photos, or skin photos to AI services.

What we don't do:

  • Use AI to analyse your skin or face
  • Store AI-processed data beyond what you save to your profile
  • Use your data to train AI models
  • Share your product data with third parties for AI training

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Health or medical diagnoses
  • Biometric identifiers (facial recognition data, fingerprints)
  • Precise GPS location
  • Contacts or address book
  • Payment card details (handled by Apple/Google)

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the App — Create your account, sync your data, deliver features
  • Improve the App — Understand how features are used, fix bugs
  • Communicate with you — Password resets, important service updates
  • Process payments — Manage your subscription (via Apple App Store or Google Play)

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Note on AI processing: Product information sent to Google Gemini API is processed to extract details and is not used to train AI models under our API agreement.

We may add analytics and crash reporting services in the future. This policy will be updated accordingly.

Data Storage & Security

  • Your data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase (hosted on AWS)
  • Data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
  • We use industry-standard security practices
  • Access to user data is strictly limited

Data location: Our primary database servers are located in Australia. Some third-party services may process data in other regions (US, EU) in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

Note for Pro users who downgrade: If you downgrade from Pro to Free, your cloud-stored photos (both product and journal) will remain accessible for 30 days. After this period, cloud copies will be deleted. Local copies on your device will remain unaffected.

When you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access — Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction — Update inaccurate information
  • Deletion — Request deletion of your data
  • Portability — Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent — Where processing is based on consent
  • Complaint — Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

For Australian Users

You have rights under the Australian Privacy Act 1988. You can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au if you have concerns.

For EU/UK Users (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our lawful bases for processing are:

  • Contract — To provide the App services you requested
  • Legitimate interests — To improve and secure the App
  • Consent — For optional features like marketing emails (if applicable)

For California Users (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We do not sell personal information.

Children's Privacy

Renew is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Marketing Communications

We may send you marketing emails about new features, tips, or promotions. You can opt out at any time by:

  • Clicking "unsubscribe" in any marketing email
  • Updating your preferences in the App settings
  • Contacting us directly

We will always send transactional emails (password resets, payment receipts, important service updates) regardless of your marketing preferences.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

  • Posting a notice in the App
  • Updating the "Last updated" date above

Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
